Position: Vice-President

Start Date: April 2018

Responsibilities

The Vice-President is the second in command at the DEM Association. He or she is responsible in aiding the President in the delegation of tasks, as well as the execution and planning of meaningful events. Should the President be unavailable, the Vice-President should be able to take charge and make responsible decisions. The Vice-President needs to be the supportive arm of the President, and is equally responsible for the well-being of DEM members. The Vice-President should:

  • possess strong leadership, organizational, negotiation and communication skills
  • have the foresight to take charge and help whenever necessary
  • possess confidence and the ability to delegate tasks
  • be the arm of support not only for the President, but for the entire team
  • be able to resolve issues fairly, responsibly and ethically
Recommended: should have previously be involved in the DEM Association

Responsibilities

The YEC Chair is one of the fore-front leaders at the DEM Association. He or she is incharge of the planning, logistics and finance, and the execution of one of our most iconic events - the Young Entrepreneurs Conference (YEC). The YEC Chair is incharge of continuing and improving the YEC tradition. This position is suitable for those who believe they have the ability to run corporate events, or those who would like to gain more experience in large-scale event planning. The YEC Chair should:

  • be confident in collaborating with other clubs/societies/departments when necessary
  • be comfortable with handling logistics and finance
  • possess strong negotiation and communication skills
  • have the foresight in event planning and execution
  • still be an active team-player and supporter of the DEM team both pre and post YEC
Recommended: should have previously attended at least 1 YEC event

Responsibilities

The Head of Events and Planning (HofE&P) is responsible for mediating and executing events that will take place throughout the school year. He or she must have the foresight in creating events that will be beneficial to students; these include but are not limited to: socials, networking events, workshops etc. The (HofE&P) must work closely with the President and the Vice-President to have the events approved. Those who apply for this position should:

  • be comfortable with handling logistics and budgeting finance
  • have strong communication and organizational skills
  • be detail-oriented and a team player
  • be creative in the design layout, organization, and activity of the event
Pre-requisite: should have previously organized small-scale events

Responsibilities

This role is ideal for those who possess strong communication and writing skills. The Head of Communication is incharge of all print/written content that is being promoted across the DEM Association's page(s). This role includes updating and maintaining DEM's blog. The Head of Communications should:

  • possess strong written and editorial skills
  • should be able to promote DEM's brand through writing
  • have a flair and passion for creative non-fiction journalism
Recommended: experience with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset

Responsibilities

The Director of Finance and Logistics is one of DEM's newest role. The organization of materials, and the budgeting for any event, plays an integral role in aiding the success of any club or society. This role is ideal for those who are detail oriented, comfortable with handling finance, and would like to exercise their accounting skills. The Director of Finance and Logistics should:

  • be comfortable with book-keeping
  • have knowledge in rudimentary math
  • understand and have realistic foresight in budgeting
Recommended: experience with accounting or finance management is an asset

Position: Head of Web Development

Responsibilities

The Head of Web Development will design and update all of DEM Association’s websites (DEM and YEC). The websites will be updated with relevant content in a visually appealing way. This role requires the individual to have some knowledge of web design and coding languages. The Web Developer should:

  • collaborate with Head of Marketing to develop DEM Association’s online brand
  • manage the DEM Association blog with the Head of Marketing
  • create and troubleshoot DEM Association webmail accounts
  • assist and fix any technical issues
  • be comfortable with Wordpress
  • have experience with CPanel and TextWranger/Codeanywhere (or its equivalent)
Pre-requisite: knowledge in HTML/CSS, or CCT260, CCT360, or its equivalent
Recommended: Adobe Creative Suite, PHP and JS knowledge is an asset

Responsibilities

The Creative Director is incharge of planning and executing the creative vision of DEM Association. The Creative Director will work together with the Head of Marketing to promote DEM Association’s brand and will be required to produce engaging visual content. This opportunity will be ideal for those pursuing a career in the graphic design industry. The Creative Director should:

  • Maintain DEM Association’s brand guideline
  • Assist with the development of promotional materials for DEM Association
  • Implement the creative vision for DEM Association’s events, including the Young Entrepreneurs Conference
  • Manage graphic design projects for social media accounts and on-campus promotions
  • Flexible and receptive to the graphic design needs of DEM Association
  • Work with the YEC Chair to develop sponsorship packages
Required: access to, and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
