Spearheading the 2016-2017 DEM Society team, the President is responsible for the club’s overall success in the academic year and to drive organization’s growth. The individual will lead in a number of ways, from delegating tasks to establishing outside partnerships. This role is ideal for those who are ambitious, well-rounded leaders with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities
  • Build and implement the master plan for the 2016/2017 academic year.
  • Lead the team to ensure the overall success of DEM Society.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to the executive team.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with on-campus and off-campus organizations.
  • Manage DEM Society’s financials with Vice-President.
  • Work closely with YEC Chair in preparation for YEC’17.
  • Practice objection-handling techniques to reach favorable agreements.

Requirements
  • Passionate and ambitious about DEM Society.
  • Knowledge in organizational behavior.
  • Able to work under pressure and multitask.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and time management skills.
  • Able to work individually and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strategic and possess innovative problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience(s) demonstrating strong leadership skills is an asset.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President is the second-in-command, where their primary role is to assist the President in executing the master plan. The Vice President will be in charge of task delegations, administrative tasks and organizing team meetings. This opportunity would be ideal for those who hope to gain leadership and team management experiences.


Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating and executing the master plan with President
  • Act as the President’s right-hand man
  • Oversee internal dynamics of the entire team
  • Assist in resources allocation and tasks delegation
  • Organize and coordinate team meetings and manage meeting updates
  • Manage DEM Society’s financials with President
  • Assist the President in the administrative tasks and promotion of the membership program
  • Work closely with YEC Chair in preparation for YEC’17
  • Provide assistance to team members when help is needed

Reporting to President and Vice President, the Head of Marketing is in charge of the development and implementation of DEM Society’s branding and promotional efforts. The Head of Marketing will work closely with all executives to manage organization’s image. The individual has experience in brand management and social media marketing. We encourage candidates to submit their portfolio, if available, when applying for this position.


Responsibilities
  • Develop a marketing strategy for the 2016-2017 academic year
  • Manage marketing team and coordinate ambassadors activities
  • Work with Head of Events to promote events
  • Maintain organization’s online brand through social media, newsletter and blog
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of promotional materials using both digital and traditional media
  • Assist in the preparation of YEC’17 branding

Requirements
  • Interested in Marketing and Design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Possess creative thinking
  • Knowledge of design application and online marketing (social media) is an asset

Reporting to the President and Vice President, the Head of Events’ primary focus is to conceptualize, manage, and execute all DEM Society’s events. The Head of Events will collaborate with other departments to ensure all logistics are on track. The individual should have past experience in event management.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a master plan for all the events in the 2016-2017 academic year with the President
  • Coordinate and oversee logistics of events, including: catering, entertainment, roles, decor, etc.
  • Manage the events team
  • Cooperate with Head of Marketing to publicize events and to supervise ambassador activities
  • Co-organize events with on-campus and off-campus organizations
  • Identify and resolve event-related issues
  • Assist YEC Chair in logistics and in the management of volunteers at YEC’17

Requirements

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize and delegate tasks
  • Able to work under pressure and multitask
  • Detail-oriented, creative thinker, and problem solver
  • Excellent negotiation skills with event-related suppliers (eg. Venue managers, Food and Beverage handlers, Printing shops, etc.)
